Aural Health How we hear The ear divides into three sections. 1.
The Outer Ear is composed of auricle, ear canal and tympanic membrane (ear
drum.) The
auricle collects the sounds waves and directs them into the ear canal
toward the tympanic membrane. 2.
The
Middle Ear is composed of three tiny bones labeled Malleus, Incus, and
Stapes, which together are identified as Ossicles.
The sound wave hit the tympanic membrane puts it into vibration.
This vibration moves the tympanic membrane in and out causing
mechanical movement of the Ossicles.
This movement transmits the sound into the Inner Ear. 3. The Inner Ear is composed of the hearing system and the balance system. The hearing system mad up of hearing nerves that translates the sound into nerve messages. These messages travel to the hearing center of the brain. The hearing center translates these messages into sounds that brain can recognize and analyze. Hearing
