Hair
Health Protein (Keratin) is the building block of hair. Just like your body, your hair needs a balanced nutritional diet to stay healthy. The nutrients associated with hair loss are lack of essential fatty acids, such as Flaxseed oil and Amino acid L-cysteine. Poor diet and especially crash dieting have the opposite effect on the hair, causing excessive hair loss. It is also known that too much sun, vitamin deficiencies and stress, and permanent waves, bleaching and dying all cause damage to the hair. Chlorine (swimming pool) not only weakens the hair at the follicles but affects the color and texture of the hair too. Your diet should contain fruits, vegetables, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Minerals such as Iron, Zinc and Copper not only promote hair growth but support the hair pigmentation. Vitamins A, B, and C are important for good circulation, hair growth and hair color. Whole grains, nuts, seeds and meat are a good source of minerals and vitamins. Your diet should also contain lots of protein. Keratin not only strengthens the hair, but also helps to reduce hair snapping and splitting. You can get protein from foods like fish, meat, milk, cheese, cereals grains and soy. Make sure to drink 8-12 glasses of 8 oz water a day to keep your hair hydrated, silky, shiny and healthy overall.
